Osun State Government - About us

The Public Service is the engine room of government and it is generally believed that the quality and capacity of the Public Service of any State is a function of the quality of the personnel that make up such Public Service. The Public Service of the State of Osun consists of personnel of different categories and cadres ranging from Administrative, Executive, Engineering, Auditing, Health, Secretarial, Accounting, Teaching, to General Duties officers among others.

The State Public Service is headed by the Head of Service while the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) are under the political headship of Hon. Commissioners and Special Advisers supported by Permanent Secretaries, General Managers/Executive Secretaries as Administrative Heads. Each MDA has its own structure which is determined by the functions/duties performed by such MDA, summarized in an “Organogram”.

Presently, there are over seventy (70) MDAs in the State of Osun implementing government programmes and policies towards effective service delivery to the citizenry. The Public Service in the State of Osun, like any other State in Nigeria, is regulated with time-tested rules and procedures contained in the “Public Service Rules” which govern the conduct and ethics of the Public Servants in rendering services to the people.

There is no doubt that the quality and quantity of service delivery in any Organization like the Public Service is the outcome of a robust Public Service manned by qualified, committed and dedicated Public Servants. Towards ensuring this, the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is being entrenched in service delivery in the State of Osun through the ingenuity and efforts of the current Administration. It is believed that, over time, the State Public Service shall be able to compete favourably with peers globally thereby making it the pride of the African Continent.
